The books are definitely worth reading. They have plenty of back story not told in the games of Halo. There are 29 Halo books in total. Starting with the individual novels in publication order, the best way to read them, and then reading the other four Halo book series. Yeah. Yes. All entries are officially considered canon in the Halo extended universe media, with one exception being Odd One Out (one of the anime episodes, presented as satire). Both Halo novels contain this. The original 5 or 6 books are very awesome. After that the Forerunner saga and short stories from Evolution’s/ Fractures are also very good. Yes definitely, absolutely.
